Red Ribbon Week
Every year in the last week of October, the FOCUSed on SADD club sponsors Red Ribbon Week to help promote saying no to drugs and alcohol. We host a Red Ribbon Rally for the elementary students and a 3 Point shooting contest for High school. We also dress up each day to match a certain theme. For elementary students we have a coloring contest and a poster contest as well. We hope that through each of these activities, students will learn the drugs and alcohol are bad for them and resolve to just say no.

Prom Promise 2014
For Prom Promise this year we had a theme of Minute to Win It or Minute to Ruin it -- It's your choice. Students make decisions every minute of every day. They choose whether their choices will help them or hurt them. We played Minute to Win It games, had a speaker from the DeKalb County Sherriff's Dept., watched a compelling video about the dangers of making poor decisions on Prom night, and got to try out Fatal Vision goggles while riding tricycles. See the video below.
SADD Convention 2013
The SADD Convention was held at NACC in February. We took 18 students this year and had a blast. We heard Coach Carter speak and he gave each of us a signed copy of his movie. We watched a multimedia presentation from the Media Guy, heard spoken word for LaQuentin "Lyrical Forte" Ragland, and learned the SADD Shuffle from Craig Tournquist. See below for pictures of the different events and a video of the SADD Shuffle.
FOCUS Rally 2012
The FOCUSed on SADD club attended the FOCUS Rally in Shocco Springs on April 19th. We heard several great speakers, participated in lots of wonderful breakout sessions, ate fantastic lunch (complete with ice cream!), got to sit through Sylvania students singing all the way home :/ and even got pulled over by a cop. It was a very full day. We hope to have more people to get to go this coming year. All in all it was lots of fun.
Prom Promise 2012
The FOCUSed on SADD club sponsored prom promise activities during the week leading up to Prom. We hosted an assembly at which Liz Barrontine and a convicted felon spoke. Afterward, we had free snow cones for all who participated. The next day, we took random students from class and painted their faces white and gave them crosses to hold to symbolize all the deaths that could occur due to drunk driving during prom activities. As they were playing dead they could no longer speak throughout the rest of the day.
SADD Conference
The FOCUSed on SADD club went to the SADD Convention on March 9th at the NACC. This included several speakers and a couple of break out sessions and comedy by Craig Tournquist including a Big Hair competition. We learned about suicide prevention, the dangers of prescription drug abuse, making the right decisions and taking good risks, and other helpful subjects. We also had a chance to get our dance on with the "SADD Shuffle" We had a great time!
