Rainsville dweller is extra in Catching Fire!!! She works with my husband and goes to church with my mom.
So glad to be back at school for a new school year. Things have really changed for the library this summer. Ms. Crowe has moved to a new school so I am now the librarian for high school and elementary. I am excited about this change although it has meant a little more work for me. I am excited to announce that I finally joined the rest of the world on Twitter and Tumblr. You can find me @librarypig on Twitter and at Alenoans on Tumblr. Another cool bit of news is that we have a Rainsville resident that is an extra in the new movie Catching Fire. Check out the picture above and the trailer below. See if you can find here in the trailer. She is sitting in the front row when Caesar Flickerman announces Katniss in her awesome flaming dress. The picture above is used for some online movie promotions. Very cool. Can't wait to see Catching Fire! Hooray! Summer is almost here. I have packed up about 20 books on my reading list and am so ready to get to reading. I have two beach trips this break and can't wait to read by the seaside. I hope lots of you have lofty reading plans as well. In addition to the books that I have already checked out to read, we also were able to get a big order in after the play fundraiser (to see info, pictures, and video of the play click here) So we will have some awesome books to start the year off with a bang! In particular I am excited about the sequel to Partials - Fragments. Also with the steampunk genre gathering steam, I have ordered the book Corsets and Clockwork which is a collection of steampunk romances. Another great read is Heaven is For Real. This book tells the true account of a little boy's visit to Heaven. Have a great summer and Happy Reading!
A couple of weeks ago, I was lucky enough to attend to Dark Days Tour in Decatur, Georgia. It was at Little Shop of Stories, a great little book shop on a quaint square. This tour had four of my favorite authors: Brodi Ashton (Everneath), Cynthia Hand (Unearthly), Tahereh Mafi (Shatter Me), and Veronica Rossi (Under the Never Sky). Each had the second or third book in their series releasing in the past month. They asked questions, introduced their books, signed our books and gave out cool prizes. It was so much fun. Each of these book series are either paranormal romance or dystopian novels. They are all great series with wonderful characters.
You can view my book reviews of these books from the links below. Under the Never Sky and Unearthly Everneath and Shatter Me Check out the pictures below! After the "hurriedness" of the Santa Store, we came out with a pretty good profit. This, of course, was all thanks to you. With some of this money I was able to purchase a great new hoard of books. We have the newest Diary of a Wimpy Kid book, The Third Wheel. We also aquired the next book in the Eve series, the Enclave series, and the Ranger's Apprentice series. Since adding these to the shelves Friday, several have already been checked out. I myself cannot wait to read many of these great titles. Happy Reading! Due to the great sales that we experienced in our high school book fair, we were able to purchase even more new books for the library as well as some sweet rocking chairs. I am really excited about the Thedore Boone: Kid Lawyer books. They are written by John Grisham who is known for his amazing adult novels about the courtroom. I am also glad to say that we now have a new mermaid series. There are several of these coming out and we have gotten the first three books in the Daughters of the Sea series. Enjoy and Happy Reading! I case you haven't heard, the Tiger's Curse series is one of my favorites. I have been following this series for several years. I was given the opportunity to meet the author, Colleen Houck last Friday night. This was such a cool visit. She read to us a bonus chapter from Tiger's Destiny and gave away prizes for answering book trivia. I won a tiger puzzle which I plan to put together, glue, and hang in my bonus room with all my other puzzles. I will think of Ren everytime I see it. You can watch the video of Colleen reading from her book below. I was also able to get all my copies of the books signed and the library's copy of Destiny signed. I painted my nails in honor of the books for the occasion. Colleen liked them so much she took a picture of my nails with the title page of the book and said she was putting it either on her Facebook page or the webpage. I have posted pictures from the event below as well. You can check out my review of Tiger's Voyage and Tiger's Destiny on the Book Reviews page. All in all it was a great trip and now I can't wait to meet more of my favorite authors. The school year has gotten off to a great start. I think everyone is just about settled in and comfortable with their schedules so now it is time to get down to business. Library classes start next. I am so excited to get to see all of you. I have some fun and useful lessons planned for this year. As most of you know, we have a high school book fair last week. With the amount of merchandise that we sold we were able to get all these new books. They should be on the shelves and ready for check out soon. I am super excited about The Kill Order which is the prequel to The Maze Runner series by James Dashner. Also we now have the final two books in the Maximum Ride series by James Patterson. Looking through those books I see several that I can't wait to read. I think that you will all be able to find something great to read. The book Cinder is one that I have heard about for a while now. It is a Cinderella story with cyborgs. Should be interesting. And Between the Lines is a young adult novel written by Jodi Picoult and her daughter. Jodi Picoult is the author of My Sister's Keeper and this is her first book collaborating with her daughter. There are so many books in the library that I want to read and I like to be able to suggest fantastic books for you to enjoy. But I don't have all the time I would like to be able to read:( So I have devised a plan to help. This year I want to add another layer to our library website. I would like for students to write book reviews for me in addition to the reviews that I write. I will be placing a page on the library webpage for students to submit their books reviews. I will read them and then place them on the website. I hope to have tons of reviews so that others can find out which books are the best. I hope that you will all help this be a great program. Can't wait to see ya'll in the library. Happy Reading! Soon and very soon we will be back at school. I am so ready to get this school year started. I hope many of you are too. I have read several books this summer and I am so excited to get to tell you about them and hopefully find some great stories for you guys to get into. I am so looking forward to seeing all of you again this coming school year. I can't wait to hear about any of the books that you read this summer too! Enjoy the rest of your summer and see you soon!
If you have looked at my book reviews, you would see the last two books I have read are Delirium and Pandemonium by Lauren Oliver. Both of these books were amazing. I really enjoyed the story and the way the author told it. I am looking forward to the third book. As I opened my email today I found a flyer from Epic Reads telling about a Delirium trilogy game on Facebook that has just begun. If you have read the books you may be interested. If you haven't read the books, you need to. :) Fight for love on Facebook by sharing these powerful Resistance posters with your friends to recruit them to join the Resistance, and become a Resistance Leader!
